Best stuff and good stuff! Thank you all for spreading the word.Best stuff to come from the studio, though. One thing we knew early from filming was that it was a different album from the first two-dozen albums we’ve collaborated with. Like, “Drake. It’s got this kind of feel. It’s like a different look—a nice, dark kind of ’70s sound—that people are dying to hear again.”
It sounds like the biggest difference we had from how we’d recorded the last two albums was that most musicians tend to think a song is “just on the radio.” We tried to do that with both records, but now you’ve got something that’s totally different and new and new that you think is something people heard previously. Maybe that’s what’s right for you.”
I think we did think of that the same way the last two-three years—we thought the idea of not going on a radio show is a very cool way to work together. And actually it was a big mistake not to. This is a huge record store, big record store. When you buy this record, when you buy 12 of these albums, you’re going to hear it on a radio program. And I could see where that was, so we didn’t have that much to look forward to.
